La Sauvetat-du-Dropt (pronounced "La Sorvetar du Drow") is a small village of approximately 500 residents located in the Aquitaine region close to the border between the departments of the Dordogne and the Lot et Garonne. The river Dropt flows through the village. Local facilities include a bar/cafe /Tabac, boulangerie (bakery), post office, hairdresser, the very popular Restaurant "Ma Maison" and a small grocery store.

La Sauvetat is approximately a 1 hour drive from Bordeaux and about 20 minutes from Bergerac.

Attractions in La Sauvetat include the le Pont Romaine (Roman Bridge) and the Eglise (church).

The nearest town is Eymet about 6km away which has all commercial facilities, banks, post office, internet cafe, bars, supermarket and a large market on Thursdays selling fresh produce, clothes and household items. Alternatively there is a large supermarket and hardware store at Saint-Pardoux-Isaac, also about 6km away.

Aquitaine is a very diverse region, ranging from the Pointe de Grave in the north to the Spanish border in the south, with the Pyrenees Atlantique coastline, where the mountains meet the sea. The Bordeaux region is renowned for its excellent wines with the Margaux, Medoc, Sauterne and Saint Emilion vineyards some of the most famous.

Closer to home there are many attractions within easy driving distance of La Sauvetat including, chateaux, Duras and Monbazillac and other historic medieval villages. Most villages have a weekly market with night markets in summer. There are nearby walking tracks and lakes for canoeing, swimming and fishing.
